PowWow

Powwow1.png Powwow4.png Powwow3.png CC2420EMK.png

  • Openhardware project
  • At Wikipedia
  • Project page (France)
  • MSP430-board + CC2420EB-Reference-Design-Board + Contiki based firmware
  • All needed files are open and downloadable
  • Motherboard contains MSP430F1611 and no other special part
  • RF-board is a TI reference board available at $122 the pair +antennas at digikey
  • CC2420EM board at TI. Schematics and Gerber files are available
From Wikipedia:
PowWow uses RICER[3] protocol proposed by UC Berkeley to reduce the time spent in radio reception (RX) mode.
This protocol consists in cycled rendez-vous initiated by a wake-up beacon from potential receivers.
Thanks to this method, nodes are sleeping most of the time, hence saving energy.

The CC1100/CC1101/CC2500 radios are pin and driver compatible. Dual-radio platforms are easily achievable, and exist today.

SquidBee

  • An Arduino+Xbee openhardware supported by Libelium
  • It is an Arduino-Shield for XBee designed by Libelium.
  • ArduinoFIO does the same with better form factor but software how-to from Libelium is still useful.
