Published on Jun 3, 2012 (Adolf Cortel, June 2012) A rod of nickel is placed inside a coil fed with an amplified sine wave from a signal generator. Nickel is magnetostrictive, this means that the rod changes its length following the magnetic field of the coil. This produces vibrations in an aluminum plate attached to the rod. A second coil fed with DC provides a bias of the magnetic field avoiding the doubling of the frequency of vibration
